Arlene A. Wallace Lyons---Arlene A. Wallace, 91, passed away on Saturday March 2, 2024, at the Huntington Living Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 25 Center St., Waterloo, NY. Burial will be in S. Lyons Cemetery. Arlene was born in Port Byron on December 24, 1932, the daughter of Charles and Josephine Bielawski Stowell. Arlene was a graduate of Savannah High School, Class of 1950. She earned her RN from Auburn Memorial Hospital, Class of 1953. Arlene enjoyed her work in nursing for many years then moved on to social work. Arlene retired from Wayne County Dept. of Social Services, where she was a Family Services Supervisor. As a communicant of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, she became an active choir member. She also volunteered with Boy and Girl Scouts, Literacy Volunteers, Friends of the Library and as a docent at the Wayne Co Museum. She enjoyed golfing gardening, reading and her many trips to Spain to visit family. Arlene is survived by two daughters Amy Wallace-Verde of Spain; Susan (Thomas) Gutschow of Lyons. Five grandchildren: Jacob Wallace, Lucas Gutschow, Molly Gutschow (John Dudley), María Verde, Andres Verde; a great grandson Irving Dudley. Her seven siblings: Theresa Giles, Bernice Prosser, John (Joyce) Stowell, Joseph (Eileen) Stowell, Leonard Stowell, Ronald (Marti) Stowell, and Rita (Jay) Bronson; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Thomas Wallace, her son-in-law, Alfonso Verde and a brother, Fred Stowell.
