Allen K. Simpelaar

LYONS – Allen Kenneth Simpelaar, 80, of Lyons, passed peacefully on Monday (December 21, 2020) at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Allen was born April 8, 1940 in Sodus, NY. Allen was predeceased by the love of his life, Faith Simpelaar who passed away July 13th, 1999. Allen was then predeceased by his loving wife, Mary Jane Simpelaar. Allen is survived by his significant friend, Judy Davenport, North Rose, NY. Allen is also survived by his three sons, Mark Simpelaar; Kenneth Simpelaar (Terri) of Lyons, NY and Steven Simpelaar (Kathy) of Mexico, NY. He was the beloved grandfather of Craig, Johnny, Brittney, Kelsey, Adrienne, Brenden and Ryan. He was also the proud Great grandfather to Cole, Ryder, Violet, Brayson, and Loucile. Allen, along with his predeceased brother John Simpelaar, founded Simpelaar Fruit Farm located in Wayne county and Oswego county. The farm was Allen’s heart and soul. He took so much pride in the farm every day of his life. Allen was an avid hunter and had many adventures all over the world hunting exotic animals. Hunting was his passion. Allen also enjoyed traveling, reading, bowing and basketball. Allen enjoyed watching the Lyons Lions boys’ basketball team. He rarely, if ever, missed a game. In fact, he was awarded “fan of the year” in 2008. Calling hours will be held for family and friends at Weeks-Keysor Funeral home located at 5 Phelps Street, Lyons, NY. Calling hours will be Saturday, December 26th 2:00pm – 6:00pm. Facemasks are required. Funeral services will be private. Internment will be at York Settlement Cemetery. Memorials in his name may be made to the Lyons Community Center and Trail of Hope, 9 Manhattan St., Lyons, NY 14489 Allen was a great husband, father and grandfather.
