M. Genevieve Smart

Lyons M. Genevieve Smart, 92, of Pilgrimport Rd., passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013. Family and friends may call Friday (Apr. 19) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons. An Order of the Eastern Star service will be held during visitation at 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held Saturday (Apr. 20) at 11 a.m. at Lyons United Methodist Church, 93 William St., Lyons. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Lyons. For those wishing, memorials may be made to the Lyons United Methodist Churst, 93 William St., Lyons, NY 14489 in her memory. Genevieve was born February 15, 1921, in the Town of Rose, a daughter to Ralph J. and Mary Fox Closs. She rtired from Lyons Central School in 1976 after 20+ years of teaching and previously having taught at Naples Central School. She was a member of the NYS and Wayne County Retired Teacher's Associations, a 50+ member of the Lyons United Methodist Church, The Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 466 and the Eureka Grange. She is survived by her 2 sons, David (Deborah) of TN and Timothy of Lyons; granddaughter, Grace; sisters-in-law, Betty Closs and Mary Smart; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Smart in 2006; brothers, George Closs and Edward Closs, and sister Esther Rexer.
