Lyons John Lewis Butler, age 63, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 after a long courageous fight with multiple myeloma. Family and friends may call Friday (May 3) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons. A memorial service will be held Saturday (May 4) at 11 a.m. at Lyons United Methodist Church, William St., Lyons. Burial will be held at a later dat and time. John was born August 18, 1949 in Canandaigua, a sone to the late LaVerne and Betty Jane Elias Butler. He was a veteran of the Army from 1969 to 1972, having been stationed in Germany, and was a life-time member of Newark American Legion. John was a farmer and enjoyed the outdoors. He had worked at Mobil Chemical in Macedon for 27 years, then Fold-Pac in Newark for 7 years, and was a trustee at the Lyons United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the NY Steam Engine Association for many years and helped run the annual flea market. John is survived by Cynthia Lyke, his life companion for over 30 years and her family, Margaret (Jay) Schneider, Pamela Lyke-Marquez; and niece, Kaitlin Schneider; and many dear friends including George and Mary Lou Marble and Peter and Grace Hurlbutt.
