Thora M. Weeks, 86, of 51 Butternut St., passed on June 1st, 2013 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Thora was born in Lyons on October 7th, 1926, and was the daughter of Maude and Morton Reynolds. She was a graduate of Lyons High School and graduated from the Continental School of Beauty in Rochester, NY, before purchasing and managing the Canary Beauty Salon in Lyons. In June 1952, Thora married Earle R. Weeks, and became a partner of the Weeks Funeral Home. Together they ran the business for 45 years. Thora was an active member of the Lyons United Methodist Church, the Lyons Garden Club, the Civic Club, the Historical Society, the Early American Painting Guild, Eastern Stars, and Eureka Grange. Her interests involved gardening, traveling, early American décor and design, entertaining friends, and spending time with her family. She is predeceased by her husband Earle R. Weeks in 1998. She is survived by 3 daughters, Barbara Weeks-Wilkins (Bruce) of Fairport, Sharon (Anthony) Tiballi of Lyons and Dawn (Joe) Palmer of Batavia; as well as 7 grandchildren: Andrew Wilkins, Brynn Wilkins, Katee (Lucas) Salerno, Kara Tiballi, Carly Palmer, Nate Palmer, and Will Palmer. A Memorial Service will be held at the Lyons United Methodist Church on Wednesday June 5th at 3:30pm with a reception to follow. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in South Lyons Cemetery. For those wishing, memorials may be made to the Lyons United Methodist Church, or to a scholarship fund to be established for the Lyons Central School District.
