Ella Rowena Blake

January 26, 1925 — October 11, 2013

Wolcott Ella Rowena Blake went to our Lord on Friday, October 11, 2013, at age 88. Born January 27, 1925 to Ralph and Margaret Mason of Wolcott, she was a 1942 graduate of Leavenworth High Schol and a 1943 graduate of Rochester Business Institute in secretarial science. Rowena was a cashier at several local businesses and was very active in the community as a dispatcher for WAVAC, driver for Meals-on-Wheels, coordinator of the Food Pantry, and election inspector for Town of Butler. As a 76-year member of the First Baptist Church of Wolcott, she served as church secretary for many years and was a member of the American Baptist Women. Rowena is survived by her sons, Woodrow (Linda) of Winston-Salem, NC, Barry (Cindy) of Wolcott, and Dennis of Wolcott; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Betty Everett and Gerda Mason; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Leon Marshall Blake, her brother Leonard "Spike" Mason, and daughter-in-law Mary Blake. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the First Baptist Church of Wolcott, 6025 New Hartford St., Wolcott, NY 14590 or the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
