Lyons Robert Michael Matthys "Mike" passed peacefully at home in the arms of his loved ones on Sunday, November 3, 2013. A memorial service will be held Saturday (Nov.9) 11 am at Maranatha Baptist Church, Travell Knapps Corners Rd. Lyons. He began his life on November 10, 1955 in Lyons, the son of Robert and Ruth Lucille (Wallace) Matthys. He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Patricia Lynn, his son, Michael (Shelley) and daughter Jessica Nicole. He was the proud grandfather of Shawn Michael, Anthony John, Mykel Moses and Carter Michael. as well as 2 step-grandkids, Cameron and Giovanni. He also leaves behind a brother Ronald (Tina) Matthys and a sister, Danya Matthys, a very special niece, Heather Matthys, along with a host of other nieces, nephews and extended family. Mike was predeceased by his father, Robert Matthys, brother, Eric Mitchell Matthys, niece, Nevaeh Matthys, paternal grandparents, Edmond and Eliza (Pratt) Matthys, maternal grandparents, Ralph James and Laura Stella (Pecore) Wallace.
