North Rose Lee H. Edmonds, Jr., 88, a life long resident of North Rose, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. He is survived by 5 children, Jeff (Carol) of CA, Nancy (Hal) of CA, Chris (Terry) of North Rose, Dennis (Jana) of Newark and Todd (Mary Beth) of Trumansburg; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Anne Blaisdell of Lyons; sister-in-law, Carol (Walt) Agnew, brother-in-law, Frank (Kate) Dennis; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by wife Jean and grandson Jacob Edmonds. In his youth, Lee was an excellent baseball pitcher. He was once scouted for tryouts with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Lee spent the war years working the farm to supply the troops as part of the war effort. He was a long-time apple farmer who grew and sold a variety of apples. For a number of years, he sold Farm Chemicals for the Barker Company. His life-long interest was air planes. As a child he was dazzled by the barnstorming planes and air shows in the 1930's. Later he acquired, repaired and rebuilt airplanes. He built an airstrip on his North Rose farm and for the next 30 plus years he hosted plenty of antique, tail dragging and other aircraft fly-ins, barbecues and breakfasts. He also attended the Oshkosh Wisconsin fly-in 5 times. He loved and supported his children and their families. He will be missed and remembered by all. Family and friends may call on Saturday (Jan 18) from 11 to 1 pm at Farnsworth-Keysor Funeral Home, 5025 Main St., North Rose. Burial and other services will be private.
