Sterling Hope M. Mayo, 52, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at James Square Nursing Home after an extended illness. Family and friends may call on Monday (Feb. 24) from 5 to 6 pm at Becker-Keysor Funeral Home, 6816 Church St., Red Creek, where a funeral service will follow at 6 pm. Spring burial will be in Springbrook Cemetery, Sterling. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Fair Haven Fire Department in her memory. Hope was born on October 27, 1961 in Oswego, a daughter to the late Robert and Donna Pierce Smith. She worked at the Haven Midstate in Fair Haven. Hope enjoyed her needlework and was a faithful member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Fair Haven. She is survived by her husband, Michael Mayo; 4 sons who she loved so much, Michael, Matthew, Nicholas and Nathaniel Mayo; 5 brothers, Dean (Jeannette), Brian, Clark (Deborah), Keith (Elanie) and Craig (Gina); 1 sister, Faith )Robert Howell); special friend, Brenda (Tom) Aswad; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother, Gary Smith and sister, Dawn McDaniel.
