Cato Dorothy M. Shurtleff, 99, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Auburn Senior Services. Family and friends may call on Saturday (Apr. 26) from 10 to noon at Cato Christian Fellowship, 2570 E. Main St., Cato, where a funeral service will follow at noon. Burial will be in Cato Union Cemetery. For those wishing memorials may be made to Cato Christian Fellowship, 2570 E. Main St. Cato, NY 13033 or CIMVAC 2496 W. Main St., Cato, NY 13033 in her memory. Dorothy was born March 14, 1915, in Cazenovia, a daughter to the late Hiram and Grace Workman Reed. She worked at Cato-Meridian Schools as a cook for many years. Dorothy was an active member of Cato Christian Fellowship for 66 years. She loved her flowers and gardening and enjoyed quilting and handy work. She is survived by her 4 children, David (Arby) of Cato, Kenneth (Jacqueline) of Fairport. Louise (Ronald) Buckman of Red Creek and Charlotte (Paul) Finn of South Carolina; 8 grandchildren, David Shurtleff, Jr., Roy Shurtleff, Roger Shurtleff, Charles Shurtleff, Emily Barrett, Kermit Buckman, Wendell Buckman and Preston Buckman; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Leon in 2000, brother, Kenneth Reed and grandson, Raymond. Arrangements were entrusted to Keysor Funeral Service, Cato. www.keysorfuneralhomes.com
