Clyde William G. Austin, 89, of Brand Rd. passed away Tuesday (May 27) at home with family at his side. Family and friends may call Sunday (June 1) from 2 to 4 pm at the Wolcott American Legion Post 881, Ridge Rd. Wolcott, where a funeral service will follow at 4 pm. Burial will be Monday (June 2) 2 pm at Rose Cemetery with military honors. Contributions may be made to the Wolcott American Legion. Bill was born October 5, 1924 in the Town of Rose, a son to the late William and Edith Somes Austin. He was a WWII veteran of the Army, where he was a truck driver while in Germany. Bill and his brother Earl worked independently in the Scrap Metal Business. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley in 1999, son Donald in 1971, brothers, Nathan and Kenneth Austin, and 3 great-grandchildren. Survived by son Lonnie (Margaret) Austin of CA; daughter Marie (Jeff) Garrow of Clyde; 5 grandchildren, Ranae David of Auburn, Amy (John) King of Savannah, Tammy Garrow of Clyde, Lonnie D. Austin of Lyons and Jackie (Kevin) Moore of Geneva; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother Earl (Lucy) Austin of Rose; sister, Ruth Austin of Rose; Bill's lady friend and companion, Wilma Winder and her children, Jody Parrish and Roy Winder, all of Wolcott; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
