Cato Paul L. Southard, 97, currently of Memphis, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014. Family and friends may call Saturday (June 14) from 10 am to noon, at Keysor Funeral Service, 11362 South St., Cato, where a funeral service will follow at noon. Burial will be in Lysander Rural Cemetery. Paul was born February 13, 1917 in Auburn, a son to the late Floyd and Mary Hornburg Southard and was a graduate of Meridian High School. Paul was a local farmer, bus driver for Cato-Meridian Schools and was active in the Grange. He was also employed by the Town of Ira Highway and Cayuga County Highway Departments. Predeceased by his first wife, Doris Brinkman Southard and second wife Dorothy Emerick Hubbard Southard, son, Lee Southard in 2006, grandson, David Southard in 2001 and 2 brothers, Lloyd "Pete" and Homer. Survived by his daughter, Patricia (Thomas) Castiglia of Cato; son, William (Sharon Franza) Southard of Memphis; daughter-in-law, Roberta Southard of Jordon; 7 grandchildren, Patricia, Michael, Jamie, Rebecca, Chris, Lori and Wendy; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law, Helen Lauckarn of Port Byron.
