John B. Davis

Sterling/Baldwinsville John Brewer Davis, 88, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hosital after a short illness. Family and friends may call on Friday (June 20) from 10 to 12 pm at Temple Baptist Church, 2295 Downer St., Baldwinsville, where a funeral service will follow at 12 pm. Burial will be in Springbrook Cemetery, Sterling. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Temple Baptist Church, 2295 Downer St., Baldwinsville, NY 13027. John was born on May 19, 1926 in Pigua, OH, a son to the late David W. and Eleanor E. Fisher Davis. He retired from Hannibal Central Schools as a custodian. John enjoyed cutting firewood and playing piano. Predeceased by his first wife, Ruth M. Davis of 54 years in 2003. He is survived by his wife, Ruth D. Davis of Baldwinsville; 8 children, Lorraine Gardenier of Baldwinsville, David (Kathy) Davis of Oswego, Sheryl (James) Switzer of Owego, Sharon (Chris) Nagy of NH, Peggy (John) Clark of Syracuse, Paul (Michelle) Durkin of TX, Sean (Lynette) Durkin of Baldwinsville and Kelly (Scott) Fuller of LA; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ruth McIntosh and Martha Hubbard and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were entrusted to Becker-Keysor Funeral Home, Red Creek.
