Fair Haven Carol B. Grant, 78, passed away peacefully at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse on Monday, September 29, 2014 after an extended illness. Calling hours will be held Friday (Oct. 3) from 5-7 p.m. at Becker-Keysor Funeral Home, 6816 Church St., Red Creek, with a funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org in Carol's memory. Carol was born March 11, 1936 in the Town of Victory, a daughter to the late Allen C. and Bessie E. Sweeting Blanchard. She was a veteran of the Army where she met and married her first husband Gene Kyler and they returned to Victory. After Gene's death in 1964, she moved her family to Fair Haven where she lived for the next 50 years. Carol retired from Hannibal Elementary School after 20 years of teaching 4th grade. She loved to travel and was a fan of blue grass music. She is survived by 4 children, Allen Kyler of Fair Haven, Kenneth (Rachel) Kyler of FL, Patricia Bare of TN, and Deborah (Edward) Landy of Mechanicville, NY; 3 grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew and Tiffany; several great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Gober of FL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her first husband Gene F. Kyler in 1964 and second husband Russell H. Grant in 1996; brother, Jim Blanchard; and sister, Virginia Mason. www.keysorfuneralhomes.com
