Werter J. Cooney, Jr.

Lyons Werter J. Cooney, Jr., 81, of Foote Rd., passed away at St. Anne's Hospice in Rochester on Sunday Dec. 7, 2014. Family and friends may call Wednesday (Dec. 10) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons, where a funeral service will be held Thursday (Dec. 11) at 10 am. A Masonic Service will be held Wednesday at 7 pm. Burial will be in South Lyons Cemetery. For those wishing, memorials may be made to St. Anne's Home, 1500 Portland Ave. Rochester, NY 14621 in his memory. Bud was born October 13, 1933 in Lyons, a son to the late Werter and Florence Bastain Cooney. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Humanity 406, Humanity Chapter (OES) 446 and Eureka Grange 46. He was a life-time farmer in the area, and an avid sportsman. Predeceased by his sister, Helen Finewood. He is survived by his wife Elaine of 51 years; 3 sons, Michael of Lyons, Brian (Laura MacLaren) of Webster and Jeffrey (Tiffany Quagliata) of Newark; 2 grandchildren, Leah and Jacob of Webster; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many extended sportsman friends and his faithful dog Mary Jane. www.keysorfuneralhomes.com
