Lyons Edward F. Mathews, 87, of DeBusse Rd., went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Rochester General Hospital. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday (Dec. 16) 10 am at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, at St. Michael's Church, Lyons. Burial will be in South Lyons Cemetery. Ed was born June 6, 1927 in Astoria, NY, a son to Harry and Anna Delaney Mathews. He was WWII veteran of the Navy. He managed The Market Basket and Acme Market during the 1950 and 1960's, worked for years at Newark Developmental Center and retired from the US Postal Service in Lyons. Ed also was a foster grandparent at the Roosevelt Children's Center. Predeceased by his first wife Mary in 1974, his second wife Kathleen in 2013, and 2 brothers, George and Harry. Survived by 4 children, Edward Mathews of Lyons, Patricia Shaw of Seneca Falls, Linda (Larry) Eckert of Lyons and Robert (Bonnie) Mathews of Lyons; 7 grandchildren, Michelle Brass, Jason Shaw, Bethany Lancaster, Katelin Perry, Jonathan Eckert, Neil Mathews and Andrew Mathews; 6 great-grandchildren; extended family and many special friends at the Roosevelt Center in Newark. www.keysorfuneralhomes.com
