Sodus Ricky A. Miller, 52, passed away on February 8, 2015, after a long and valiant fight against Acute Lymphoid Leukemia and Graft Versus Host Disease. There will be no prior calling hours at Ricky's request. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life on March 1, 2015, 1-5 p.m. at the Wallington Fire Hall, 7863 Ridge Rd., Sodus, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Ricky's memory to WCC6 Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital or to the Wayne County Humane Society. Ricky was born February 12, 1962, in Clearfield, PA, a son to Richard N. and Carolyn Miller. He grew up in Rochester, NY. He worked as a mechanic for over 20 years in Wolcott at Govenor Chevrolet and continued with Cavallaro-Neubauer. He loved spending time with his wife and children. Camping was a favorite activity with family and friends. Ricky took great pride in his lawn and many flower beds. He was an avid dirt bike rider growing up and waited until his kids were grown before he got his first street bike which has been his pride and joy the last few years. Ricky was a member of the Williamson Sons of the American Legion, Williamson American Legion Riders, and the Palmyra Moose Lodge. Ricky is survived by his wife and best friend Doran (DeWispelaere) Miller of 31 years; son Staff Sergeant Nicholas H. and Ashley Miller; grandson Jameson Hugh and Jack Allen, due in June; son Bradley J. Miller; and daughter Danielle A. and William Swan; dogs Molly and Fernando; mother, Carolyn Miller; sisters, Lisa (John) Kuehl, Darla (Rick) Ouks, Nadine (Erick ) Horton; mother-in-law, Marlene DeWispelaere; brother-in-law, Jay DeWispelaere; sisters-in-law, Aimee DeWispelaere, Trish (Mark) Hollenbeck, Marne (Paul) Wolf; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Ricky is predeceased by his father, Richard N. Miller and father-in-law, John J. DeWispelaere. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Becker, Nurse Catherine, our go-to-girl Kristy all at the Wilmot Cancer Center Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital and every nurse and patient care tech who has helped to care for Ricky over the past three years.
