Miles H. Thomas

Wolcott Miles H. Thomas, 83, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 3, 2015 after fighting a hard battle with cancer. There will be a gathering to celebrate Miles' life on Saturday (Sept. 5) from 11:30 am till 1 pm at Faith United Methodist Church, 12223 Oswego St. in Wolcott, followed by a funeral service at 1 pm. Burial will be in North Wolcott Cemetery with military honors. Contributions in memory of Miles can be made to Faith United Methodist Church, Hospice of Wayne County, 800 W. Miller St., Newark, NY 14513, or to Lake Shore Ambulance, Wolcott. Miles was a Korean War Veteran of the Navy, serving from 1950 to 1954 on board the USS Adirondack AGC-15. He enjoyed the outdoors taking family trips to the Adirondack Mountains. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Miles had his own fishing charter service, "Black Jaws Fishing Charters". He loved to play guitar and piano while singing with family and friends. He was part of a band group of close friends playing his guitar, singing country, western and gospel music. Miles was a very active member in the Wolcott Lions Club, served in the position of President. He was also a member of the Wolcott VFW. Miles is survived by his loving wife Barbara, of over 59 ½ years of marriage; their 4 children, Robin Thomas of Wolcott, Keven (Nancy) Thomas of Ira, Keith Thomas of Jensen Beach, FL, and Maureen (Rusty) Smith of Meridian, ID; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. keysorfuneralhomes.com
