William Poole, Jr.

May 24, 1936 — April 19, 2016

Phelps

On May 24, 1936, William Poole, Jr. entered this world as the oldest son of William and Rhea Poole.  Junior, as he was called by many, attended Clyde Central School.  In 1955, he met the love of his life, Dorothy VerCrouse.  They were married on December 15, 1956 in a double ring ceremony.  Over the next 59 years they made a life together that was of devotion to their growing family.  First, came their five daughters.  Then twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren came along.  Junior loved and cherished each moment with his family.  Moments of camping, fishing, farming, working on vehicles, or just chatting over coffee filled our lives.  Every day was lived to the fullest, with no regrets.  During family gatherings, you could see the happiness and pride on Junior’s face.  These were the times when he always joked with us and loved to play with the kids.  He was not a man of many words, but through his actions of love you knew how he felt.

Junior worked for the Local 832, Operating Engineers Union, until his retirement in 1982.  He was a member of many organizations, including, Waterloo Sportsman Club, Elks (BPOE), Moose Lodge, VFW War Dads, National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors and Rose Fire Department for 16 years.

Junior departed this world on April 19, 2016.  He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; their daughters, Donna (Ken) Daniels, Diane (Michael) Sendlosky, Darlene Palermo, Denise (Bob) Darcangelis and Debbie (Ron) Patnesky; grandchildren; great-granddaughters; and his siblings, Shirley Johnson, Charlotte Poole and Larry (Kathy) Poole.

He was predeceased by his parents, his three brothers, Johnny, Kenneth and Robert, and granddaughter, Jessica Sendlosky.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St. in Lyons.  All services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
