Gordon F. Phelps, age 86, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the Wayne County Nursing Home.

Family and friends may call from 5-7pm on Monday (March 13) at Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home. 5 Phelps St., Lyons. A funeral service will follow at 7pm. Burial will be in Rose Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Gordon’s memory to the Humane Society of Wayne County, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, NY  14489.

Gordon was born on February 19, 1931 in Detroit, MI, a son to the late Gordon E. and Elizabeth Pirwitz Phelps. He worked as a truck driver at Anheiser Busch in Penfield for over 20 years. He previously traveled the world for the Merchant Marines for 20 years.

Predeceased by his sister Diane Phelps. He is survived by his loving wife Ellen, of 42 years; children, Frank (Sheila) Hipp of Syracuse, Elizabeth (George) Miles of N.C.; grandchildren, Aaron Hipp of Syracuse and Krystin Hipp of Marion; great- grandchildren, Bryan and Alexis Hendler of Marion; brother, Dean (Denise) Phelps of New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.
