Sherlene L. Alvaro, 81, of William St. passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 4, 2018.

Family and friends may call Tuesday (Jan. 9) from 5 to 7 pm at Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons.  A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday (Jan. 10) 10 am at St. Joseph the Worker Parish at St. Michael’s Church,  Phelps St., Lyons.  Spring burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Lyons.

For those wishing, memorials may be made to St. Michael’s Church, Town of Lyons Ambulance or to the Lyons Fire Department in Sherlene’s memory.

Sherlene was born February 12, 1936, in Lyons, a daughter to the late G. Dean and Mildred Spies Metcalf.  She had worked at Wayne ARC, DeSanto Jet Gas and Dobbins Drugs.  She was one of the quilters at First Lutheran Church, loved to swim and do puzzles.

Predeceased by her husband Philip Alvaro and brother, Gerald Metcalf.  She is survived by 3 sons, Philip (Kathy) Alvaro, Dennis (Katie) Alvaro and Brian (Michelle) Alvaro; 4 grandchildren, Adrienne Alvaro, Meredith (Rodney) Hill, Phil Alvaro and Robert Alvaro; 1 great-grandson, Luca Hill; Uncle, Ray Spies; 3 sisters-in-law, Marilyn Metcalf, Rose Zulauf and Helen Santino; many extended family and close friends, and especially her beloved dog Max.
