Maurice was born on January 16, 1939, in Savannah, New York. He was the son of Everett and Violet Caster. He graduated from Savannah High School. He married Kathleen Caves on June 16, 1962. In his early years, he worked for Jackson Farms as a truck driver and as a racing official at the South Butler Drag Strip, Klionsky Scrap & Metal in Seneca Falls, and then for the Village of Lyons for 31 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, wood working, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, the loves of his life.

He will be missed by his wife of 55 years Kathy, his two sons Jeffery (Cathy) Caster of Geneva, and Gregory (Sara Finch) Caster of Newark; five grandchildren Jenna, Kyle, Nicholas, Thomas and Freya; two sisters Natalie (Rick) Tenney of Connecticut and Sue Clarey of Florida; sisters-in-law Eileen (Dave) Bennett, Lori (Gary) Smith, and brother-in-law Tom (Brenda) Caves, and several very special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Julie, sister Shirley Waldron, brother Gary Caster, and brother-in-law Emmett Waldron and sister-in-law Deb Caster.

Thanks to the entire Lyons Ambulance and Wayne County Sheriff’s Department who all showed up at our house Sunday afternoon to help in any way possible, for their compassion and caring, and for the “ride of his life” with Jeff Rios at the wheel to Strong.

A special thanks to Dr. Christopher Begley and all of the doctors and nurses at Strong ICU for their skill, compassion, and comfort that meant so much to us all.

A special thank you to Dr. Alsalahi and all of the nurses at Newark Endoscopy who were always so good to him on his many trips there. They treated him like a prince.
