NEWARK
Bill Owen, 80, passed away Sunday (July 29, 2018) at Wayne County Nursing Home.
In keeping with Bill's wishes, there will be no public calling hours or service. There will be a celebration of his life at a time and date to be announced.
Bill was born on July 3, 1938 in Greece, N.Y. the son of the late Lyle S. and Elizabeth E. (Small) Owen. He served our country in the US Army from October 29, 1961 to November 28, 1963 earning the rank of E-3. In April of 1966 he opened "Owen Music House" in Newark. Bill was a piano tuner/technician for over 40 years. He played bass guitar in various country bands for over 35 years. He then opened "Mr. Piano" in Newark in October 1989 until his retirement in April 2011. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a true family man. He was a pillar of the community; giving back at any opportunity he could. One example is he employed those who may just need a second chance.
He is survived by his loving, supporting, co-worker and best friend, his wife, Patricia; his son, James; brothers Harlan (Aileen) and David (Carol) Owen; a sister, Beverly Owen; a sister-in-law, Carmella; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his brother, Robert.
