Gene W. Kelley, 69, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Family and friends may call Wednesday (Nov. 28) from 4 to 7 pm at Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday (Nov. 29) 10 am at St. Michael’s Church, Phelps St., Lyons. Burial will be in South Lyons Cemetery.
Gene was born July 15, 1949 in Lyons, a son to the late William and Marguerite DiSio Kelley. He retired from Wayne County Highway Department after 36 years of employment. He was a past President of the American War Dads and The Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed camping, cruising in his 1953 Ford and his 1987 Monte Carlo, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; 2 children, Amy (Wayne) Hoad of Waterloo and John (Crystal) Kelley of Newark; 4 grandchildren, Claudia, Natalie, Joshua and Peyton; brother, Robert (Kimberly) Kelley of Lyons; niece, Cassandra (Andrew) Leoni; nephew, Robert Kelley; great-nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Genny Lite.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Golisano Children’s Hospital, 150 Crittenden Blvd. Rochester, NY 14642 in his memory.
