Lyons Phyllis M. Wasson, 87, passed away with her family by her side on Monday, December 24, 2018. Family and friends may call on Saturday (Jan. 5) from 11 am to 1 pm at Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons, where an Order of the Eastern Star Service will begin at 10:30 am and Phyllis’s funeral service will be at 1 pm. Burial will be in South Lyons Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lyons United Methodist Church, Cystic Fibrosis, Alzheimer’s Association, or to Lifetime Care (Hospice). Phyllis was born July 17, 1931 in Lyons, a daughter to the late Elmer C. and Jennie Brownell Hecox. She was a 1949 graduate of Lyons High School and was a life-long area resident. Phyllis was very active with the United Methodist Church in Lyons having been involved with the United Methodist Women as a former President and the church choir. She was also a member of Lyons Retired Citizens, American War Dad’s Auxiliary, having been a former local and NYS Treasurer. Phyllis joined the Order of the Eastern Star (Humanity Chapter 466) in 1991, was a Matron in 1998 and Grand Martha in 2005. She was employed by Parker-Hannifin in Lyons for 47 years, retiring in 2000. She was predeceased by her husband Michael in 1990, step-daughter, Maureen VanWie, grandson, David VanWie and nephew, William Hecox. Phyllis is survived by her son, Michael (Rita Kilpatrick); step-children, Jacqueline Farrell, Michaela Sergent, Teresa Mayer and Melissa Waldeck; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sister, Alma Waltz; brother, James (Maureen) Hecox; several nieces, nephews and extended family. keysorfuneralhomes.com
